  6. Your handwritten or electronic signature.

If something is missing, we will ask you for it. Knowingly misrepresenting facts in a notice can make you liable for the resulting damages under § 512(f).

What Happens Next

Once a notice is complete, we review it and, if the claim holds up, take the material down or block access to it without unnecessary delay. If the material was posted by a visitor, such as a comment or rating, we will try to let that person know so they can respond.

Challenging a Removal

If you believe something was taken down by mistake, send a counter-notice to the same address with "DMCA Counter-Notice" in the subject. It should contain:

  • A description of what was removed and where it appeared before removal.
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that it was removed by mistake or misidentification.
  • Your full name, mailing address and phone number.
  • Your consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for your address, or, if you live outside the US, any district where the site can be found, plus your agreement to accept legal papers from the person who filed the original notice.
  • Your signature.

If the counter-notice meets these requirements, the material may be restored within 10 to 14 business days, unless the original complainant tells us they have filed a lawsuit.

Repeat Infringement

Anyone who keeps posting material that infringes other people's rights may lose the ability to contribute to the site.
